Modern Texas Living

Modern Texas Living is a quarterly lifestyle publication in Waco, Texas, that focuses on providing beautiful content that relates directly to the local community. As the marketing specialist for this publication, I also created a large share of the editorial content which included editing crowdsourced home features and recipes from influencer submitted content as well as interviewing and writing features on local people surrounding the issues theme, such as wellness. From sales to delivery, our small team worked together on every aspect, from page placement of ads and editorial content to page design and layout.

Harding Magazine

As part of my job in Harding University’s office of communication and marketing, I helped brainstorm story ideas, write features and copy edit for the Harding Magazine, a publication for the university’s alumni. I am also responsible for placing all the content on the digital magazine website, and, recently, I have become more involved in leading the creation of digital exclusive content for the digital magazine website, magazine.harding.edu, rather than writing print stories.

Arkansas Business Publishing Group

As the editorial intern for Arkansas Business Publishing Group’s special consumer publications team, I worked on annual and biannual publications for niche markets. I assisted in the publication of four different magazines: Arkansas Bride, Living in Arkansas, Arkansas Next and Metro Little Rock Guide. The samples provided are excerpts from each of these publications in which I played a key role. Many of these articles are listed under Megan Ledbetter, my maiden name.

501 LIFE Magazine

Since my senior year of high school, I have been contributing to 501 LIFE Magazine. As a magazine based in my hometown covering my college town, I was an asset to the magazines collection of freelance contributors for event and feature photography and feature writing. The samples provided are excerpts from the different issues of the magazine on what I played a key role. Many of these articles are listed under Megan Ledbetter, my maiden name.

Petit Jean yearbook

After joining Harding University’s Student Publications staff as a freshman, I discovered my passion for niche, feature publications and print publications. I learned how to create content from the standpoint of copy, photography and design and the value in managing the workflow of a staff of nearly 20 people with an additional practicum class of writers involved in the process. My junior year, while I was serving as the assistant editor, I developed a new workflow system for the publication and refined it as I moved into the editor-in-chief position. As editor-in-chief, I developed the theme for the 95th volume of the Petit Jean yearbook and instilled my passion into my staff, making decisions along the way to create content pieces that accurately reflect the year we were currently living out and came together to form a cohesive publication. Many of these spreads are attributed to Megan Ledbetter, which was my maiden name.
